Q. I understand that Envirotainer pursues sustainable management policies. Will we be able to see sustainability at BIX 2024 as well?

A. This year, Envirotainer has taken a major step to reinforce our commitment to sustainability by officially signing up for science-based targets. We are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint not only in our direct operations but throughout our entire supply chain, making us a leader in our industry to address these indirect emissions.

We aim to lower greenhouse gas emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement, which seeks to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. This means we’re not just making promises. We are actively implementing measures to ensure our efforts are meaningful and meet global standards.

For instance, we are working towards a 42% reduction in our direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. This includes energy-efficient measures at our production sites and network stations, all powered by 100% renewable energy. Additionally, we are focusing on making our operations more efficient and less carbon-intensive by reducing the need to transport empty containers through our one-way container lease strategy. Our wider supply chain also targets a significant reduction in emissions, showing our comprehensive approach to sustainability.

At BIX 2024, you will see our commitment to sustainability in action. We are excited to introduce our “green booth,” which is part of BIX’s ESG campaign. Our booth will be eco-friendly, using 100% reusable materials. This is a tangible demonstration of our efforts. A. Our presentation will focus on sustainability with the aim to inspire others to join us in these efforts. Envirotainer is dedicated to sustainable practices that go beyond just reducing carbon emissions. Our sustainability strategy is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This approach helps us create a comprehensive approach to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) responsibilities.

In our session, we will discuss how our strategies support several key SDGs. For instance, our efforts in sustainable production and operations contribute to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). We run our operations in Sweden on 100% renewable energy and are working towards a 42% reduction in our direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

We will highlight our collaboration with partners and suppliers to drive sustainability across the supply chain, supporting SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Nearly all of our partner stations have voluntarily signed our Supplier Code of Conduct. This reflects our collective commitment to building a sustainable supply chain and it is inspiring to see such strong support from our partners.
